Visit of the President of the People's Republic of China

Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Mr. Jean-Daniel Lafond welcomed His Excellency Hu Jintao, President of the People’s Republic of China, on the occasion of his State visit to Canada.

The Governor General and Mr. Lafond hosted a State luncheon at Rideau Hall in honour of His Excellency Hu Jintao, President of the People’s Republic of China. Her Excellency raised her glass in honour of President Hu Jintao.

The president delivered remarks.

Their Excellencies bid farewell to His Excellency Hu Jintao, President of the People’s Republic of China.

Guests attended a reception with traditional hoop dancers.

Following the official welcoming ceremony, an official meeting took place. The President was accompanied by one of the highest-level delegation ever to come to Canada, which includes four Deputy Premiers and five Ministers.

The State visit of President Jintao, celebrating the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and China, highlighted the friendship between our two countries.

The President also delivered remarks.

The Governor General offered remarks to welcome the President.

An official welcoming ceremony, with military honours, was held at Rideau Hall. His Excellency Hu Jintao conducted the inspection of the Guard of Honour.

The Governor General and the President applauded the very talented musicians who played during the luncheon.
