George Zarb has raised the international profile of Canadian dentistry. Professor emeritus at the University of Toronto, he is known for his work on the diagnosis and management of jaw disorders. He has also been a leader and innovator in the specialty of implant, æsthetic and reconstructive dentistry. In the 1980s, he introduced dental implantology to North America and was instrumental in establishing prosthodontics as a recognized specialty in Ontario. Co-founder of the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada, he served in leadership roles with a number of other professional and academic organizations.
