Badge for use by Lieutenant Governor's Award for Excellence in Nova Scotia WinesBlazonA plate golpy charged with a saltire Azure, overall a barrel Or charged with a lion’s head erased Gules, the whole ensigned by a coronet of mayflowers and thistles Or; SymbolismThe design evokes the arms of Nova Scotia. The wine barrel indicates that this award recognizes the best wine in the province. The lion’s head symbolizes the role of the Lieutenant-Governor in the award program. The purple discs evoke bubbles, Nova Scotia being known for its sparkling wines, but also grapes and the variety of fruit wines produced in the province. The coronet is composed of the provincial emblem, the mayflower, while the thistle is taken from the crest of the province. |
