The gold chief evokes the midnight sun of the north of both Norway and Canada, and the diapering effect evokes the Northern Lights. |
CrestBlazonIssuant from a circlet set with wheat-heads Or a lion guardant double-queued erablé Gules holding in its dexter forepaw a lozenge Argent; SymbolismIn the crest, the lozenge represents a diamond that has passed to Mr. Nelson through generations. The lion stands for strength and defence of values. As well, it also symbolizes both British and Norwegian heritages, a lion being found in arms of those countries. The double tail evokes Mr. Nelson’s two children. |
