Letters of Credence Ceremony - April 30, 2024

The Governor General welcomed five new heads of mission to Canada during a ceremony at Rideau Hall.

During the ceremony, the following new heads of mission presented their credentials:

His Excellency Juan Carlos García Pérez De Arce
Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Chile

His Excellency Joseph Edward Sokoine
High Commissioner-designate for the United Republic of Tanzania

His Excellency Mark Anthony Pace
High Commissioner-designate for the Republic of Malta

His Excellency Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz
Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Cuba

His Excellency Bharat Raj Paudyal
Ambassador-designate of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal

Upon their arrival in Canada, new heads of mission must present their letters of credence to the governor general before they can carry out their duties. Letters of credence are the official documents that accredit a diplomat as an ambassador or high commissioner to another country.
