Responses to these questions about your background are voluntary and do not have an impact on the outcome of your nomination. We ask for information about your ancestry, gender and whether you have an ongoing disability to help us better understand the diversity represented in the Canadian Honours System. We look at the combined responses across all nominations and not at individual responses.
Gender refers to current gender, which may be different from sex assigned at birth and may be different from what is indicated on legal documents.
First Nations (North American Indian) includes Status and Non-Status Indians.
Disability is an umbrella term, covering impairments, activity limitations and participation restrictions. An impairment is a problem in body function or structure; an activity limitation is a difficulty encountered by an individual in executing a task or action; while a participation restriction is a problem experienced by an individual in involvement in life situations.
