Opening ceremony of the XXVIIIth International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences
As honorary patron of the XXVIIIth International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, delivered the opening address. The goal of the International Congress is to promote knowledge of the genealogical and heraldic sciences and bring together genealogists and heraldic specialists to share and discuss their research methods and results. The year 2008 also marks the 20th anniversary of the Canadian Heraldic Authority, of which the Governor General is Chief.
