Hello competitors, coaches and supporters!

Wow! There is great energy here today.

On behalf of all Canadians, I extend a heartfelt welcome to the 2025 Invictus Games!

I would also like to thank the Four Host Nations for welcoming us here today.

These Games are a testament to the courage and fighting spirit of personnel in uniform.

Those who serve their country have faced battles that many of us cannot even begin to imagine.

Our military personnel commit to great sacrifice for their country.

Today, you are showing exceptional strength.

You show us that human beings can be strong enough to overcome adversity – even trauma.

Each of you competing in these games exemplifies the strength and resilience found in the journey of recovery.

Sport is the best path to healing.

What I see demonstrated in your spirit is an old Inuit word, “Ajuinnata”. It signifies perseverance in the face of adversity. It means never give up.

Over the next few days, let us celebrate not only the victories but also everything that these Games represent.

Resilience. Health and healing. Collaboration and respect among Nations.

That’s what Canadians strive for: building a more inclusive, supportive world.

I want to thank all the families and friends who have supported these incredible competitors. Your support is the cornerstone of their success!

I wish all the competitors the best of luck. You have our heartfelt thanks for everything you have done for your country.

Let the Games begin!
