I feel honoured to be here with all of you on the opening day of these exciting games!

We are so proud of our Canadian competitors. You've come a long way to get here.

Serving in the Forces, you have demonstrated an extraordinary capacity for sacrifice, and a willingness to risk your life to protect Canadians.

And you have shown that same incredible courage by overcoming adversity and seeking recovery through sport.

You are an inspiration to all of us. You inspire all Canadians to continue to bring out their best in fostering an inclusive and supportive nation.

So, as you get ready for this competition, keep believing in yourselves. Support each other. And know that your family, your communities and your nation are behind you.
