Governor General to present Decorations for Bravery during an honours ceremony at the Citadelle of Québec

QUÉBEC, Quebec— Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, will present 34 Decorations for Bravery during a ceremony to be held at the Citadelle of Québec on September 19, 2023. The Decorations for Bravery are among Canada’s most respected and prestigious civilian honours.

About the Decorations for Bravery
In 1972, Queen Elizabeth II established a series of medals recognizing courageous acts. Over the last 50 years, governors general have awarded Decorations for Bravery to more than 4 200 recipients—from Canada and abroad, civilians and uniformed personnel, living and deceased—in recognition of acts of bravery in hazardous circumstances that range from potential drownings and vehicle accidents to animal attacks and burning buildings.
