Message from the Governor General of Canada on the Occasion of National Family Week
OTTAWA—One of the pillars of my mandate as governor general of Canada is family and children. My wife, Sharon, and I are therefore delighted to extend greetings to everyone celebrating National Family Week.
This year’s theme, “The Grandparent Connection,” is particularly dear to us. We have five daughters and nine grandchildren, who are an incredible source of joy for us. Though we typically associate wisdom with seniors, I for one have learned many of life’s biggest lessons from my children.
Whatever the nature of one’s family, kin or community, we all benefit from the love and support of those who are dearest to us. These relationships are at the core of our lives, and the well-being of families and children is essential to that of our society.
Sharon and I would like to congratulate the Canadian Association of Family Resource Programs (FRP Canada) which, for over 25 years, has been promoting the well-being of families across Canada. We wish everyone a wonderful National Family Week
