Message from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, to Members of the Canadian Forces
OTTAWA—As commander-in-chief, it is my great joy to wish the serving men and women of the Canadian Forces and their families the very best for the holiday season and the New Year.
During the past year, Sharon and I had the privilege of meeting many of you and your families. We saw, first-hand, your devotion to duty and your commitment to building a better and stronger Canada. I presented many of you with honours in recognition of your valour, bravery and professionalism. You are a source of inspiration and pride for all Canadians.
I remain humbled by each and every opportunity I have to fulfill my role as commander-in-chief, because in doing so, I discover a little more about our caring nation and our caring people.
As the year ends, and as we gather to celebrate with family and friends, my thoughts are with you, particularly those of you serving away from your loved ones. On behalf of all Canadians, Sharon and I thank every member of the Canadian Forces, past and present, for what you do for our country every day.
David Johnston
