Message from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada on the Occasion of National Public Service Week
OTTAWA— I am pleased to offer greetings to all public servants on the occasion of National Public Service Week.
I believe Canada has benefitted richly from a talented and dedicated public service over many decades. Every day, federal employees make fundamental contributions to good government, to democracy and to society. In fact, our public service is a legacy much admired by the rest of the world.
This week, under the theme of “Be the Change!”, public servants have a chance to celebrate the exceptional work they are doing across the country, and to imagine ways in which they can influence positive change. As we head towards Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017, I believe we can come together to build a smarter and more caring nation for all.
As governor general of Canada, I am honoured to have joined your ranks and to have the opportunity to serve Canadians. I wish all of you an inspiring National Public Service Week.
David Johnston
