Message from Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, on the occasion of the Closing of the X Paralympic Winter Games

OTTAWA—Canadian athletes and their fellow competitors have demonstrated, once again, their breathtaking feats, providing audiences with countless unforgettable moments during the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.

In each competition, our athletes seized the moment, reaping the rewards of their efforts in gold, silver and bronze. They rightfully deserve to celebrate their triumphs with those who supported them along the way.

I applaud the contributions made by every single person involved in these Games. You committed heart and soul to ensuring the athletes were able to perform at their best, and that spectators on-site and watching from around the world were able to appreciate this new page of sports history.

To all those who have realized their dream in a shining display of excellence and fellowship, I wish you the best in your future aspirations and accomplishments.

Michaëlle Jean
