Inspired after meeting a boy with sialidosis, a very rare disease, Emily Tieu decided to help him by organizing garage sales in her neighbourhood, which led to the creation of the "Help Emily Help Tyler" campaign. She has also been involved with various organizations, including the Nepean Rotary Club and the Ottawa Keller Williams Inspirational Breakfast, helping to raise funds in support of sialidosis research at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Her initiative, dedication and perseverance have made a difference in the quality of Tyler's life, and he has now exceeded his predicted lifespan.
