Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
A former Second World War pilot and prisoner of war, Albert Randall Wallace has served veterans and their families for many years. As chairman of the Toronto Royal Canadian Air Force P.O.W. Association, he organizes many social and commemorative functions. Mr. Wallace often visits ailing members and comforts bereaved individuals. He volunteers two days a week at the Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, escorting veteran patients to medical appointments and special events. Mr. Wallace also gives freely of his time in order to educate youth about the role played by Canadians during the war. He is dedicated to veterans and to ensuring that their contributions to Canadian history are remembered.
