Megan Alexandra Valois, Ottawa, Ont.
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Megan Alexandra Valois is an ardent volunteer on behalf of her school, her community, and her peers. Ms. Valois was the Student Coordinator of the Peer Helper Program, an active member of her school council, and also served as her school's Youth Minister. She has volunteered at the Queensway Carleton Hospital and helps with communion and readings at her church. As an enthusiastic Student Ambassador for the Kids Help Phone service, Ms. Valois has raised awareness through frequent presentations and fundraising events. Ms. Valois has also trained other volunteers and, with the help of fellow student ambassadors, has been largely responsible for the success of the Student Ambassador Program in eastern Ontario.
