Lorna Yvonne Allen, Toronto, Ont.
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Lorna Allen began to crochet doll outfits forty years ago to help keep her fingers flexible after developing arthritis in her hands. This hobby has grown and she now dresses some 300 dolls each year, which are delivered to children in need. Miss Allen also makes lap robes for wheelchair users and has been active in her church for many years, coordinating the annual rummage sale, running a seniors group, visiting and comforting parishioners who are ill, and collecting needed items for people in developing countries.
