Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
A Central Saanich police constable, James Woolford has raised both awareness and funds for the Canadian Special Olympics for a number of years. In 1996 he organized the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the British Columbia Special Olympics, and his leadership and motivation have helped make the run a successful annual event. Mr. Woolford has done everything from selling tee-shirts and participating in mall displays, to organizing and participating in the run. His long hours of devotion to this and other similar special events have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for people with mental disabilities.
