Mrs. Verna Van Roon's many volunteer contributions have focused on children, family, seniors and the historical roots that help define her community. The local school board, church, Brownies and Guides have all benefitted from her dedication and commitment to youth. She has long been active in the Charleswood Historical Society and was involved in the erection of the Charleswood War Memorial, as well as in the preservation and restoration of Winnipeg's Assiniboine Forest and Caron House, a pioneer farmhouse. In addition, Mrs. Van Roon has delivered thousands of meals to people in the community through Meals on Wheels.
