Katie White has served for more than a decade as a volunteer in the pastoral care unit at the Victoria General Hospital, often working six days a week. With endless compassion, respect and integrity, she spends long hours giving counsel and comfort to the sick and dying, as well as to their loved ones. A lifelong volunteer in her church, she also serves as a leader in the pastoral care group and in the community service programs. Known as "Granny Simple", Mrs. White also volunteers with Clowns Are Us, a group that visits hospitals and nursing homes to cheer up patients. Every day, Mrs. White's kindness and cheerful energy bring relief and joy to those around her.
