Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

John Thiessen has a long history of caring in his community. He is actively involved in Winnipeg Harvest, an organization that supplies food to the needy, picking up and delivering food donations every week. He also participates in maintaining gardens for the St. Matthew's Maryland Community Ministry. For the last ten years, Mr. Thiessen has been driving cancer patients to and from their treatment. In addition, he is a member of the Happy Homesteaders, a group of people who regularly visit nursing homes to entertain the residents.
