Joe Anderson and Louise Anderson, Semans, Saskatchewan
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Joe and Louise Anderson have devoted a lifetime of active volunteer service to their community, while supporting their children's activities. Over the past thirty years, as a special initiative, they have funded, mapped, made and placed markers in 20 geographic points and lakes in western Canada which were named to honour young Canadians from Semans who were killed in action in World War II or subsequently. They have also organized school reunions, seniors and veterans' activities to keep alive community spirit in their small prairie village.
