David Stuart Watson, Calgary, Alta.
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
David Watson's concern for others was evident when he became an ambulance attendant at the unusual age of fourteen. He has volunteered hundreds of hours over the years to health-related organizations such as the Fairfield Health Centre's Project Medicycle, through which outdated and donated medical equipment is sorted, packed and shipped to Third World countries. He has served as a volunteer at Victoria Hospice, a volunteer counsellor and bail supervisor with Youth in Conflict with the Law, and a volunteer heraldic researcher with the Canadian Scottish Regiment.
