Sam van Gunst has spent 40 years assisting those in need and helping newcomers get settled in Canadian society. Through the Royal Canadian Legion, he has participated in Poppy Campaigns and Remembrance Day activities, attended veterans’ funerals and helps elderly patients during their meals at the local hospital.
