He has helped to shape the face of government in the Northwest Territories. He was instrumental in bringing a representative, fully-elected government to the area and served as the Legislative Assembly's first elected Speaker. A lawyer by profession, he is the founding President of the Law Society of the Northwest Territories. The first President of Scouts Canada in the region, he has served this organization in many different capacities and has acted as a father figure to countless boys.
