This aviation pioneer developed water bombing techniques that have saved thousands of acres of forest in British Columbia. With ingenuity, conviction and determination, Daniel McIvor revolutionized the means of putting out forest fires from the air with the introduction of the Martin Mars airplane in the 1960s. As chief pilot of Flying Tankers Ltd., he coordinated the transformation of these massive "flying boats" into water bombers that can accurately target fires in even the most remote mountain regions. This former bush and Distant Early Warning (DEW) Line pilot has also been inducted into the British Columbia and Canadian aviation halls of fame.
