He has helped shape national health care education, research and policy for nearly four decades. Professor Emeritus and former Dean of Medicine at the University of Calgary, he has brought international recognition to the faculty for its expanded research role and its pioneering use of telemedicine in rural Alberta. He encouraged the development of a national physician-resource database to aid in health care planning. A distinguished member and chair of countless federal and provincial government committees and task forces, he worked tirelessly to promote national telehealth. He continues to champion access to quality health care around the world.
