Director of the School of Fisheries of New Brunswick for more than 20 years, he is a pillar of his community. He has been committed to the training of fishermen, the development of this industry in the Atlantic provinces and has often shared his expertise internationally. In addition, he has volunteered his time to various community organizations, particularly to the Club Richelieu. He has also played a leading role in the region's Acadian institutions, for example as President of the Festival acadien de Caraquet and Vice-President of the Société des Acadien(ne)s du Nouveau-Brunswick.
