Normand Chaurette is a writer who moulds our culture and creates imaginative worlds. In 1976, his radio play Rêve d’une nuit d’hôpital won two awards. His remarkable talent as a playwright was confirmed three years later with Provincetown Playhouse, juillet 1919, j’avais 19 ans. Since then, he has effected a real revolution in the theatrical world with his daring, avant-garde works, captivating audiences at home and abroad. His plays have been translated into several different languages and have brought him prestigious honours. Renowned as well for his finesse as an adaptor and translator, especially of Shakespeare’s plays, he has produced texts that are known outside of Canada.
