A beloved physician in the Winkler community, not only has he established many health institutions in the region, but he has immersed himself in the life of his community. He served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly and the Winkler School District Board. In addition, he co-founded the local medical clinic where he led efforts to provide educational and employment opportunities for individuals with mental disabilities. Many in the community say that he has never failed to respond to a call.
