For decades a pillar of his community, he has dedicated his time and energy to numerous projects, many of which he initiated. Among them are the Kitsilano Showboat, the Carol Ships Festival of Lights, the Nanaimo to Vancouver Bathtub Race and the Stanley Park Miniature Railway. For more than thirty years, he worked to preserve the city's parkland, as a commissioner of the Parks Board. His volunteer efforts have helped to improve the quality of life in Vancouver through parks and recreation.
