One of Canada's finest portrait painters and sculptors, he has captured the characteristics of many well-known Canadians on canvas, and his sculptures adorn a number of prominent buildings in Ontario. He was also involved in establishing the Faculty of Fine Arts at York University. Over the years he has been a source of encouragement and support, both material and ideological, to young artists in the pursuit of their careers.
