Health and Welfare Canada's senior advisor on the Status of Women, she is an authority on such issues as women's health, mental health and gender equality, on which she has written major reports and studies. She has also chaired many task forces and committees, and has represented Canada in international meetings. Her efforts have been critical in creating an impressive network of organizations that deal with the social status and health of women.
