A renowned sculptor and artist and an ardent defender of his fellow artists, he founded the Conseil de la sculpture du Québec and the Société des artistes peintres du Québec. His minimalist style reflects that of the artists of the contemporary movement to which he belongs, and which inspired the creation of Montreal's Musée d'art contemporain, the only Canadian museum dedicated exclusively to contemporary art.
