Director of the Botanical Garden and chief horticulturist for the city of Montreal, he has greatly influenced Canadian horticulture and improved public awareness of the world of ecology and the natural sciences. Among his creations are the Biodome, the Insectary, the renovated Botanical Garden, and the Japanese and Chinese gardens. He has made a remarkable contribution to the city's improvement programs and to the planning of parks and green spaces.
