Arriving in Canada as a youth displaced by war, he showed perseverance and courage, becoming a Judge of the Quebec Court of Appeal, where his judgements were models of erudition, clarity and precision. He has had a diverse career as a brilliant criminal lawyer, a teacher and a writer, dedicating his life to justice, fairness and freedom. Moreover, he has instilled in others the pursuit of these ideals.
