Beginning as a student at Victoria College, he has enjoyed a life-long association with the University of Victoria, serving over the years as teacher, principal, vice-president and chancellor. Known for sound judgement, leadership, good humour and a sense of fairness, he has made his mark on both the academic and general community, sustaining the link between "gown and town" for more than five decades.
