This distinguished geneticist is at the head of a team of scientists from the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto that, along with an American team, discovered and isolated the gene responsible for cystic fibrosis. He played a central role in both the location and the isolation of the gene and is continuing his research in the hopes of rectifying the defect that results in this deadly genetic disease.
