Professor Emeritus at the University of Western Ontario, physician and administrator, he is a pioneer in cancer chemotherapy in Canada and was among the first to establish the importance of calcium metabolism in managing cancer patients. He played a vital role in the development of both the Ontario and the National Cancer Institutes and has dedicated his career to the advancement of health care and medical education in Canada.
