This eminent research scientist is internationally recognized for his discovery of atrial natriuretic factor (ANF), a hormone secreted by the heart that helps regulate blood pressure. He has played a major role in helping to detect and correct a great number of cardiovascular disorders. As professor of pathology and physiology at the University of Ottawa and research director of its Heart Institute, he continues to devote his expertise and knowledge to medical science.
