Deeply concerned at the sight of children infested with intestinal worms during a visit to Haiti in 1982, she returned home deternimed to do something about it. Today her organization, Global Ed/Med Supplies (GEMS), is supplying needed educational and medical supplies, establishing clinics and initiating self-help projects in over fifty countries around the world while operating under one of the lowest overheads of any non-profit organization in North America.
