A leader in the community of Baker Lake, N.W.T., he has served in the municipal government, was a founding member of the Inuit Tapirisat of Canada, as well as of the first FM radio station to operate in the Arctic, owns the first Inuit-owned business in the settlement and is a champion dog- sledder. His many successes have led other Inuit into businesses and community involvement to the benefit of the entire settlement.
