Her novels have been translated into several languages and are highly regarded by the Canadian and international literary communities for their subtle characterizations, rich imagery and eloquent narratives. She has served as a director of the Writers' Trust of Canada and PEN Canada, and has also worked closely with emerging writers, encouraging and inspiring the next generation.
