Baumann is one of the most outstanding athletes in the world. At only nine years of age, he was winning national and international swimming competitions. But it was at the 1984 Olympic Games that he was recognized as one of the most accomplished swimmers in world history, winning two gold medals and setting two world records in the 200-metre and 400-metre individual medleys.
