Disabled by polio in childhood, he became interested in wheelchair sport and competed in Canadian and international games. In 1980, he set two world records at the Olympics for the Disabled and was named Canadian Male Amateur Athlete by the Canadian Sports Federation. Recently, he won two gold and two silver medals at the Seventh Pan American Games in Halifax.
