Among the best in singles events in the sport of kayak racing for several years, this Montreal native teamed with Hugh Fraser to win a gold medal in the 1000-metre pairs and a bronze medal in the 500-metre pairs at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Since these victories he has continued to train and compete internationally and has become well-known for his work with young people through such agencies as Health and Welfare Canada's Native Drug Abuse Programme.
