In the ten years since his appointment as an Officer of the Order of Canada he has advanced his art still further, to the point where its geometric simplicity and clear tonalities have not only become the classic expression of Newfoundland and Atlantic Canada but achieved a degree of poetic insight and a quality of universality which are widely esteemed in Canada and abroad. (This is a promotion within the Order).
