Ida Wasacase is a Cree who, in the course of a teaching career in the Yukon and elsewhere, equipped herself by advanced study for a wider service to her people. She became a consultant on Indian education and languages; but more recently her main task has been the first and only institution of higher learning controlled by Indians: the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College at the University of Regina. Under her directorship it has strongly encouraged the emergence of the Indian people.
