She has been active for many years in Montreal community groups and women's organizations through which she has worked for the improved social and financial situation of women, both in Canada and internationally. Through such organizations as the National Council of Women of Canada and the Canadian Federation of University Women she has served as an influential advocate of issues such as pensions for women and income tax reform.
